The Beachwood City School District is located in Beachwood, Ohio, an eastside suburb of Cleveland. Approximately 1,600
students are enrolled in four schools: Bryden Elementary School (Grades K-2), Hilltop Elementary School (Grades 3-5),
Beachwood Middle School (Grades 6-8) and Beachwood High School (Grades 9-12). The Fairmount Early Childhood Center is
a learning center for toddlers and preschoolers; this building also houses the Board of Education offices.
The Beachwood City School District is guided by this mission statement: To develop intellectual entrepreneurs with a social conscience. These carefully chosen eight words mean the District is centered on the development of creative, knowledge-
seeking members of the community who will take risks and see the big picture; young men and women who will become the responsible global leaders of tomorrow.
Beachwood Schools have earned three U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon Awards, the highest rating of Excellent from
the State of Ohio Department of Education, membership in the elite Ohio Department of Education "Schools to Watch," a
National 21st Century School of Distinction Award for Technology Excellence, induction in the Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators Hall of Fame, two Excellence in School Management Awards from the Harvard Business School Club, District libraries recognized as "Ohio Library of Disctinction," and national recognition as among the Top 100 in Music Education from the American Music Conference.

The Beachwood Community:
Generally considered one of Ohio's finest suburban settings, the 6-square-mile City of Beachwood takes great pride in being a blue-chip business center, a thriving commercial and shopping area, a center for world-class medical care, and a national leader
in technology.
Home to 5,500 families, more than 3,000 businesses and a major retail center housing Saks 5th Avenue and Nordstrom, Beachwood attracts more than 100,000 people every day for business, health care, shopping or entertainment purposes. Land values are among the highest in the county.
The success-oriented residents of Beachwood are predominantly well-educated professionals (51 percent hold bachelor's degrees or higher) who understand the value of education and expect excellence in their children's schools. Thirty percent of the children enrolled in Beachwood City Schools have parents who are alumni; many have grandparents who are active community members.
Beachwood enjoys what is called a "golden triangle" partnership between the City government, the School District and the
Chamber of Commerce, ensuring long-term stability and cooperative strategic planning. The School District has never failed a
tax levy in its history; the most recent levy (in 2005) passed by 68 percent.
The newest additions to the community are a Community Center, a park with 1.6 miles of multi-purpose trails, a $5 million
Family Aquatic Center, and a $15 million state-of-the-art Middle School.
